Unit 1 Setting up a Business Looking at enterprise, aims & objectives, franchising, business plans, legal structures and locating the business. Marketing, finance, people in business and operations management
This unit will be assessed by an external written assessment of 60 marks and 1 hour in length.
60 marks / 40%
Unit 2 – Growing as a Business Looking at expansion, conflict, further marketing activities, finance for large organisations, training, appraisal, motivation, recognition of the challenges of growth and QA.
This unit will be assessed by an external written assessment of 60 marks and 1 hour in length.
60 marks / 35%
Unit 3 –Investigating Businesses This unit will be assessed by means of a controlled assessment which is released in the spring. This involves an investigation and the student provides her individual response produced under controlled conditions.
This unit will be assessed on a portfolio of evidence, based on the candidate’s own research of a business.
40 marks / 25%
Students will visit local organisations as well as benefit from visits to the school by guest speakers from various aspects of the business world.
