Early Birds & StayLates

'Early Birds' runs from from 8.00am to 8.40am.
'After School Club' (or StayLates) runs from 3.30pm to 6.00pm.
A Holiday Club is organised during each school holiday from 8.00am to 6.00pm.
Details of each of these facilities is available from the school Office.

 

Parking

Parking, for the dropping off and collection of children, is available in the main playground from 8.00am to 9.15am. The gate will be locked from 9.15a.m. - 3.00 p.m. Parking is also available in Cavendish Road.

Parking is not allowed in the staff car park in order to keep this a safe area.

Drama at Culcheth Hall School

Drama at Culcheth Hall is a thriving, energetic department. Classes are taught throughout the senior school to Years 7, 8, and 9 and there is also the option to select Drama at GCSE. The ethos of the Drama Department is that students have the opportunity to express themselves within their school life. Teaching incorporates a holistic approach including performance and study of historical, classical, stylised and contemporary works. Students are encouraged to recognise their own contributions and that of others.

Each year programme of study includes a mixture of scripted and devised projects, dance performance and technical theatre. Students also learn scriptwriting, play reading and public speaking within their Drama lessons Thus providing the opportunity to gain an all round experience of Performing Arts.

Performances are eventful throughout the Culcheth calendar including special performances of GCSE Drama projects. Whole school productions are part of the schools events enabling students to get involved in extra curricular activities at school-enriching their whole experience.

There is also an extra Drama club for students who wish to spend explore the subject further.

Students at Culcheth hall can much more understanding of group skills and build their confidence through the Drama lessons creating an equal opportunity for success.

GCSE Drama (AQA 4240)

 

 Candidates are given the opportunity to recall, select and communicate detailed knowledge thorough the understanding of plays and other types of drama. They study relationships between texts and dramatic styles, and of social context and genre, to generate, explore and develop their ideas. They learn to apply and adapt effectively an extensive range of practical skills, which they creatively communicate their ideas. They learn to work very productively with others. They accumulate well-developed evaluative and reflective skills. They will show a critical awareness of work in progress, performance, their own contribution and that of others. They will be able to provide full justifications, demonstrating insight and sensitivity in developing practical work. They will be able to understand and use theatrical terminology accurately and appropriately.

Aims and learning outcomes

  • Actively engage in the process of dramatic studying order to develop as effective and independent learners and as critical and reflective thinkers with enquiring minds
  • Work imaginatively and creatively in collaborative contexts, generating, developing and communicating ideas

 

  • Reflect on and evaluate their own work and that of others
  • Develop and demonstrate competence in a range of practical, creative and performance skills

 

  • Develop a basis for their future role as active citizens in employment and society in general, as well as for the possible further study of drama
  • Consider and explore the impact of social, historical and cultural influences on drama texts and activities

 

Written Paper – 1 hour 30  – 40%

Practical Work – 60% Candidates are required to present practical work for two controlled assessment options; controlled assessment options: Internally assessed and externally moderated
