Dear Parents, Pupils and Friends of Culcheth Hall School
Culcheth Hall School GCSE results are once again in the news!!!
On Thursday 10 January 2008 the Government published performance tables for schools. Although we already knew our GCSE results, we did not know how good they were compared to the rest of the country. The Manchester Evening News ran the following article -
Nine schools hit top marks

NINE schools in Greater Manchester are celebrating after every GCSE pupil met government targets.
Thousands of students in the region sat exams last summer but the results have only now been used to create a league table of top schools.
Pupils at nine schools achieved a grade C or better in at least five of their subjects - the standard expected by education experts.
They were Bolton School Boys' Division, Bury Grammar School for Girls, Abbey College in Manchester, Manchester High School for Girls, Manchester Islamic High School for Girls, Withington Girls' School, Hulme Grammar School for Girls, Altrincham Grammar School for Girls and Culcheth Hall School.
Most pupils arrive at Culcheth Hall having failed their 11 plus examination and we are proud to say that as we work with them and encourage them, they all achieve the minimum of 5 A* to C grades which will take them onto further education. Most of them achieve 11 or more GCSE passes. However some still struggle with English and Maths but are able to gain enough ground to further their education.
Culcheth Hall School offers a broad based education which allows girls to achieve in both the academic and vocational fields. We will not become focused primarily on examinations but on educating for life. Emphasis is placed on gaining self confidence and assurance as well as experiencing many different facets of learning. We support our pupils within small classes so that they can achieve their best in examinations.
The statistics are impressive. For the last four years we have been at the top of Trafford, for Average Points Score and/or the Value Added Score ( the government has stopped producing the latter for Independent Schools in the last two years ), in the top 50 schools in England.
Below is a table of some schools in the surrounding areas.
The information for any school can be obtained at www.dcsf.gov.uk/performancetables.

School statistics (based on the number of 15 year olds)
These results give us a reason to be proud of the hard work that staff and pupils put into their education and to be part of Culcheth Hall School.
The government is introducing a number of new courses over the next few years and at Culcheth Hall we will be evaluating them and their impact on our curriculum. We are already looking at the curriculum for the future to make sure that we are able to give the girls the best learning environment with up-to-date courses and learning opportunities.
Thank you for the support you give both the staff and the pupils.
Yours sincerely
