 Prep Department

The Prep Department has an excellent reputation for the quality and success of its curriculum and the cheerful enthusiasm of its pupils. The aim of the Department is to develop the girls' ability to communicate effectively and enable them to be enthusiastic, responsive and knowledgeable pupils.

Culcheth Hall School offers a traditional education where good manners, self discipline and high moral standards are valued and girls are taught to show respect to others. The school has an environment which is friendly stimulating and supportive. Each child is valued and treated as an individual ensuring the growth of self esteem.

Traditional values within the curriculum
At Culcheth Hall pupils receive a thorough grounding in English, Mathematics and Science.

We offer a broad-based curriculum and pupils are assessed in the National Curriculum Tests at Key Stages 1 and 2.

High academic standards achieved in small classes
Culcheth Hall preparatory school has an outstanding record in teaching girls aged 4 to 11 years. An excellent teacher/pupil ratio throughout the school ensures that pupils achieve their highest potential.
We are proud of our achievements in the Trafford 11 plus grammar school examinations. In year 6 all girls sit the Culcheth Hall entrance examination and are assured of consideration for a place in the senior school. Pupils are also successfully prepared for entry to independent schools.

Excellent amenities to support learning
The library, computer suite and music room are just some of the up-to-date facilities available.
The sports field, netball and tennis courts, sports hall and gymnasium enable pupils to enjoy a wide range and choice of sporting activities.

A full programme of sports, music and extra-curricular activities
High standards are achieved in swimming, netball and athletics and the school has an excellent record in local and regional competitions.

Lunch time clubs ensure that each pupil's talents are developed to the full. We offer individual tuition in piano, woodwind, strings, percussion and singing.

Pupils are given the opportunity to participate in 'After School Clubs' such as Judo and Dance. There are also drama groups to provide opportunities for girls to develop confidence and self assurance and to perform in public during the year.

Theatre and museum visits and outdoor activities are regular and stimulating features of the school term. We often welcome entertaining visitors to school.

Admission
Pupils may join at any age subject to an assessment and interview. The family will be introduced to the form teacher.

It is difficult to appreciate fully the exciting and inspiring atmosphere of the school without a personal visit.

Please telephone the secretary who will make an appointment with the Headteacher who will be delighted to show you around and answer any questions.

Offer of a place in the Junior Department is dependant on the interview with the parents and child. She will then be invited to spend a school day with her respective year group.

The curriculum offers a sound foundation for the smooth transition to the Senior Department.
