Culcheth Girls’ Hit The Italian Slopes!
During the Easter holidays, 24 Senior Girls and 3 members of staff jetted off for their ski trip to the resort of Aprica in Italy.
Aprica is an attractive resort in the Province of Sondrio in Italy, on a pass between Lake Como and the Dolomites. At 1181m it has lift access to the pistes at almost every point, offering a wide variety of carefully prepared runs and an extensive nursery area.
Once we were settled into our hotel, it was time to get ready for our first ski lesson with our instructors. Many of the girls had never skied before, so the morning began with learning how to snow plough, and mastering the most important skill of stopping!! Once this had been mastered by everyone, there was no holding the girls back. By Day 2, both groups had completed the 6km blue run called the ‘Panoramica’, which enabled them to see views of the entire valley, along with the mountains peaks in nearby Switzerland.
With everyone finding their ski legs, all of the girls were paralleling their way down the mountains by the end of the week. Throughout the week, there were some very stylish falls and some unorthodox ways of getting on and off the ski lifts!!
Amongst the endless miles of skiing, the girls got to enjoy a traditional Italian Pizza Night, along with a spot of Karaoke and an opportunity to strut their stuff on the dance floor at the local disco. The trip wouldn’t have been complete without visiting a traditional Ice Cream parlour to sample what the Italians are famous for!!
It was an absolute pleasure to organise and lead this trip, and I would personally like to congratulate all of the girls for their effort and contribution in making such a successful ski trip. I hope that they all enjoyed the experience and have taken many happy memories away with them. Huge thanks to Mrs Chevalier and Miss Spencer for their time and assistance throughout the trip.
Here’s to the next one!!
